Outside reading 9
For my outside reading i read an afticle in a magazine. the article was 5 quick ways to be healthier. the first said to eat chocolate (dont grab a chocolate bar for dinner though!). when you crave some chocolate just eat a square or two of the dark kind because it is rich in flavonoids. flavonoids are antioxidants that fight cell-damaging molecules from pollution, pestecides, and smoke. the second was to get off the scale. reaserchers at the U of M said that girls who get on the scale and constantly rely on a number gain more than twice as much weight over 5 years, than girls who dont step on the scale. instead of looking at a specific number ask yourslef how you feel in your pants, if they feel a little tighter than usual, hit the gym. the third was snack at night. usually you hear that you shouldnt eat before bed time because youll gain weight. but if you havent eaten your right amount of calorie intake for the day, you can eat them any time, even at night. just eat something light like popcorn or berries and whipped cream. the fourth was to hit the snooze. sleep helps your immune system get stronger. studdies have shown that sleep deporvation decreases the feeling that makes you full. so less sleep can lead to eating more. the last one was to play video games. yea, they are a part of what makes many teens procrastinate but, they are also good for your body. schools around the country are making dance dance revolution part of the corriculum, it makes you move and get active. so if you are wanting to get healthy as a promise to yourself, it doesnt have to be horrible, little things count too. just remember to eat chocolate, dont constantly weigh yourslef, eat at night if youre hungry, sleep a little bit longer, and play video games. see? this could even be fun!
